Next up for Park Bo-young is her upcoming drama Gold Land, a gripping thriller where she dives headfirst into the world of crime and suspense. The show is scheduled to release on Disney+ next year.

Following her portrayals in this year’s romantic comedy Melo Movie alongside Choi Woo-shik and the coming-of-age romance Our Unwritten Seoul with Jinyoung of Got7, Park Bo-young will star in Gold Land as an airport security officer whose routine life takes a messy turn when she’s caught in a chain of unexpected events.

From the creative minds of director Kim Sung-hoon and writer Hwang Jo-yoon comes this engaging narrative of greed, backstabbing, and crime, as Par’s Hee Joo stumbles upon a stash of gold bars linked to a shady smuggling operation. Tensions spike when Hee-joo realizes that she’s too obsessed to let go of the gold. And things only get crazier as she gets caught in the chaos of a casino and the shady characters connected to it.

Sharing her thoughts on the role, Park said she’s thrilled to explore a new genre, adding that the change of Hee Joo will be fascinating: “The process in which Hee Joo, who seemed uninterested in gold, changes as she becomes obsessed with human nature and desires will be portrayed in an interesting way,” according to Soompi.

Kakao Entertainment, the Korean entertainment powerhouse, recently mentioned that Park Bo-young will take on a transformative role in this series, showcasing her versatility as an actor. With a string of iconic performances under her belt, including films like Scandal Makers (2008), A Werewolf Boy (2012), On Your Wedding Day (2018), and Concrete Utopia (2023), as well as hit dramas such as Oh My Ghost (2015), Strong Girl Bong-soon (2017), Abyss (2019), Doom at Your Service (2021), and Daily Dose of Sunshine (2023), Park Bo-young has solidified herself as household name in South Korea.

Besides Park Bo-young, Gold Land also features Kim Sung-cheol, Lee Hyun-wook, Kim Hee-won, Moon Jeong-hee, and Lee Kwang-soo in key roles. Commenting on the story, Lee Kwang-soo said it’s a script that everyone can enjoy, regardless of age. He added, “Every character feels vivid and full of life.”
