Periphery To Perform In India

The American prog metal band will headline Bacardi NH7 Festival in Bengaluru this December

Leading off from what you were saying, you’re very much a product of the internet. How has that shaped your music and career?

I don’t think it shaped the music at all but I think it’s shaped our careers. We’re very much an internet band as you said; we’re born and bred on the internet. What it shapes more than anything is how we interact with our fans and the sort of band-fan relationship that we have, which is not only very different from what it used to be, but is now sort of becoming the norm. Now that they have this kind of accessibility, now that the people in the bands they look up to are like a few clicks away, maybe a lot of the mystique is gone but at the same time it opens up this new level of relatability, which is really cool, and I wouldn’t even say it’s better or worse necessarily, it’s just a completely different dynamic that didn’t exist before.

You mentioned your fan base in India. Are there any plans to visit the country anytime soon?

This is a great question. I guess it’s a little different forIndiabecause fans come to festivals and we’ve actually gotten a lot of offers and even a lot of offers that would make sense for us to take. It’s just been the scheduling that’s been unfortunate because we’ve been non-stop busy since October. But we’re always keeping an eye out for those offers and eventually, there will be one and we can’t wait to do it because all of our friends and peers who have gone and played in India and said that it was one of the most incredible things they’ve ever done. So, I really can’t wait. And I guarantee you it’ll happen. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.
