The 21-year-old 'American Idol' runner-up performed two shows in Kolkata as part of her first visit to India as a musician

For all those who didn’t think a singing competition like American Idol could still produce good, honest singer-songwriters, they needed to have witnessed one of those more recent talents, pop singer Angie Miller, who recently made her India debut as a musician [she first visited India when she was 12 years old] with two shows in Kolkata, including one at gig series Jamsteady.
The 21-year-old singer from Massachusetts was in town to promote her 2014 EP Weathered and threw in a few covers — ranging from Katy Perry’s “Roar” to Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” — for good measure to win the audience over. Her hour-long setlist featured her best-known songs such as “You Set Me Free” and “Lost in the Sound.” But Miller, a third place runner-up in the 2013 edition of the televised American Idol, knew her strengths. For this performance, she picked songs that got her maximum votes on the show — from the gospel composition like “Love Came Down” to “Who You Are” by UK pop singer Jessie J — and these were the same tracks that had the Kolkata audiences singing along in full volume.
