A warm-up gig for an American recordhead, featuring four bands from Mumbai and one from Chennai drew in the crowd for the first edition of BOMB Thursdays at Kino 108 in Mumbai.

Following a showcase of Indian punk rock by Chennai’s The Shakey Rays, The Lightyears Explode, BLEK and the Riot Peddlers for  Seymour Stein, rapper Tanmany Bahulekar, aka Microphon3, played a special opening set, attempting to rhyme as fast as he could.

The high energy set from The Lightyears Explode’s set, who are gearing up for their album launch tour, was followed by a the laid-back performance by rock ”˜n rollers The Shakey Rays. Despite a dark, creepy cover of Cole Porter’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” the major mood of the Chennai band’s set was upbeat, blues-inspired rock. The band ended their set with a birthday dedication to Lightyears frontman Saurabh Roy.
