The crowd-funded show that brought 10 bands to stage set a benchmark for gigs in the city
Â
The third edition of Control ALT Delete on Sunday that drew “about ¾ of the entire scene” as Spud In The Box guitarist Hartej Sawhney put it on a recent Facebook post, included three impressive debuts: alt rock band Unohu, pop rock band The Fringe Pop and Raxit Tiwari’s solo project Your Chin.
The sound at the venue may have been far from flawless, but the show rode on the unflagging spirit of both bands and the audience that were cheering for the DIY code of the event. While Spud In The Box delivered the best set of the night and Microphon3’s debut with Bhayanak Maut guitarist R Venkatraman didn’t hit the spot, nine out of 10 bands is a terrific score. Said Tiwari on stage, “This is the best show I’ve been to recently.”
Co-organized by artist management company Sidestand, online audio and music equipment retailers bajaao.com, independent musicennui.BOMB and Indian indie music website Nh7.in, the show was held on September 30th at the just opened Sitara Studio on Elphinstone Road.
