A band hunt that started three months ago ended with four winning bands playing to a packed audience at Bandra Amphitheater in Mumbai on December 16th. The grand finale of Converse The Original Band hunt saw Kolkata winners Ganesh Talkies [pop rock], Pune winners Thikscinned [hard rock], Mumbai winners The Koniac Net [alternative rock] and Bengaluru winners Jekyll & Hyde [garage rock] aim for the top prize of Rs 50,000.

Alt rockers The Koniac Net kept things tight, playing songs from their first full-length album One Last Monsoon, while hard rock band Thikscinned had a few sound problems, their style of raunchy rock influenced by comedy rockers Tenacious D found them fans. Bengaluru garage rockers Jekyll & Hyde turned up the speed of things as they stomped around stage. When the final band of the night Ganesh Talkies brought their Bollywood-influenced melodic pop rock to stage in their shiny gold outfits, vocalist Suyasha Sengupta asked the crowd to stand up for their performance of “Item Bomb.” After that, very few got back to sitting down.

Besides being declared as the evening’s winners, Ganesh Talkies also bagged the original guitarist prize [Ronodeep Bose] and original lyrics prize, while Jekyll & Hyde bagged the prize for original song for their track “POP.” As soon as that part of the show wrapped up, Delhi rock vets Parikrama played their headlining set including songs such as “Vaporize,” “Am I Dreaming?” and all time favorite “But It Rained.”
