The last edition of G-Shock Rolling Stone Metal Awards pre-gig series played out in full swing on February 21st at Delhi’s AntiSOCIAL. The run-up to RSMA’s seventh edition, nominees such as Guwahati metallers Rectified Spirit took to the stage alongside top talent like hardcore band Grammy Winning Effort, modern metal band Warwan and Shillong death metallers Plague Throat.

Modern metallers Warwan kicked off the night with their unique brand of Hindi metal, warming up the crowd with a relentless set that included their live staple “Main Hoon Doga,” [a tribute to Indian comic book superhero Doga] and other tracks from their upcoming EP.

While Grammy Winning Effort picked up the pace with their raucous performance–instigating moshpits every now and then–Rectified Spirit, who were returning to Delhi after about six years with a completely different lineup, were greeted with equal enthusiasm. From then on, death metallers Plague Throat wreaked sonic havoc with set staples such as “Dominion Breach” and a signature cover of American death metal pioneers Death’s “Crystal Mountain,” their performance mirroring last week’s headline gig at the RSMA pre-show in Guwahati.
