After months of searching for young, new talent as part of their Parx Hunt band competition, there was a buildup to a new festival addition to the Indian gig calendar with Parx Music Fiesta, which took place on November 19th and 20th at Raymond Ground, Thane.
Likely the first music event of this scale at the venue, a “carnival-themed” production and massive stage design awaited those coming in to catch the likes of Amit Trivedi, Salim-Sulaiman, Benny Dayal, Indian Ocean, Euphoria and Papon. While those artists repped the more veteran spectrum of Indian pop, fusion and rock (and of course, Bollywood), bands like Swarathma, When Chai Met Toast, Underground Authority (who collaborated with singer-songwriter Nikhita Gandhi), Parvaaz and Daira were also drawing in big crowds, repping the Indian independent music.
The vibrant colors of the 100-foot wide stage would garner wonderment and the two-day event also provided a huge stage to region-wise winners of the Parx Hunt — metal band Skulptr from Hyderabad, Mumbai duo White Vinyl, Solan-origin Hindi alt-rock band HP14 and Kolkata rock/metal act Panic. The Kolkata act Panic took home the grand prize of ₹2,00,000 as winners at the finale, leading the way for one heavy-hitter after another at Parx Music Fiesta.
