Although we expected the all-star second edition of #RollingWith to end in a great big jam, we couldn’t have expected that some of the artists jamming would be prodigious kid rappers. Young hip-hop artists Noor Hasan, Maunit Shroff and Rushikesh Jadhav (Azad,) all of them too young to watch their idols Naezy, Divine, Ace and Bobkat at club gigs, got a chance to not only watch them live but also share the stage with them.

This hip-hop special session held on Friday, September 16th, hosted the cover stars of the August edition of Rolling Stone India. Bajaao is the official sound partner of #RollingWith. A few lucky fans chosen from everyone who tweeted out their questions with the hashtag #RollingWith in the run-up to the session got to attend the live broadcast at the Twitter Blue Room. These 20-odd fans cut across ages with the youngest being only 14. The session started with an enlightening discussion on the evolution of desi hip-hop, the issues it has brought to the fore and its future (stay tuned for the video). The artists answered a number of questions from both fans on Twitter as well as those in the house””these ranged from a query from a young rapper from Bihar seeking advice on how to start a hip-hop scene in his town to another aspiring musicians wondering how to attempt DIY recording.

The highlight of the evening was the performances that followed. Ace started the party by performing a set comprising songs from his rap crew Mumbai’s Finest’s latest album Mumbai Till I Die, Bobkat kept the spirits high with his own brand of high-energy call-and-answer rap. Naezy treated the audience to a new song and joined Divine on their breakout collaboration from last year, “Mere Gully Mein.” Not surprisingly, almost the entire audience of awestruck fan sang along with them on the popular songs and a few lucky ones even joined them on stage. The edition culminated with the customary selfie session.

The third edition of #RollingWith will be held on September 23rd featuring New Delhi singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad. Head to @rollingstoneIN on Twitter for more updates.
