The Journey Is Everything World Tour allowed the hip-hop artist to even hang out with Indian heavyhitters like DIVINE and Emiway Bantai
Russ stopped by Mumbai and New Delhi on October 28th and 29th, making for a sparkling pair of performances as part of his The Journey Is Everything World Tour. The Atlanta-bred rapper was in his element as he performed to thousands of fans (a press release pegged the number at 6,000 attendees in Mumbai) at Jio World Garden in Mumbai and the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the capital.
Complete with pyrotechnics and an opening set by DJ Calvin in Mumbai, Russ took to Instagram to say, “Blessed to have the fanbase that I do. Y’all got my own solo show lookin like a festival. Mumbai I love you. Thank you for your energy!”
Elsewhere, Russ also linked with Mumbai’s rap heavyweights DIVINE and Emiway Bantai, with the latter emphasizing that they were both independent, self-made artists.
Raging along to songs like “Pull the Trigger,” “Me You,” “Voicemail” and “Best on Earth,” Russ posted a few videos from his time on stage. He added in a post later, “I have the best fans in the 🌎 Can’t tell me otherwise!!! I’m proud that I’ve created a community of people who know my catalog. Mainstream hits are cool but you can’t build a real fanbase or career off of them. I appreciate y’all for supporting me, not just the songs. These aren’t festivals. There’s no openers. It’s just me and that will always trip me out. Thank you forever.”
As is the case with most international artists wowed by their India debut, Russ vowed to return to the country, likely to get everyone waving their middle fingers in the air and singing along to his hits. “My first time in India was better than I could’ve imagined. Thanks for all the love over the years. Feelin that energy in person was incredible. Can’t wait to go back,” he added on Instagram.
