With guitarist Devesh Dayal flying down from the U.S. just in time, and a few days of rehearsals, prog metallers Skyharbor kicked off their first India tour with vocalist Eric Emery, playing in the country after two years. On their first stop in Kolkata, as part of concert series The Festival, things seemed to go their way, but not without initial concerns about the show itself. The organizers first encouraged fans to think of buying a ticket for the show as a way of “crowdfunding” the show and eventually moved the show to 10 Downing Street club on account of lack of sales.

The lineup, which was first revealed to include supporting sets by Kolkata experimental metallers What Escapes Me and prog rock band AlienZ, added (of all the things) a Belgian bluegrass act called the Louvat Brothers and Bollywood/classic rock covers act Jojo Nathaniel and Shiva.

Nonetheless, Skyharbor remained the main draw, with about 300 people gathered to catch the band run through a setlist similar to their Europe tour earlier this year, performing “Chemical Hands,” “Blind Side,” “Allure” and “Patience” among others.
