India's biggest EDM festival is moving in a positive, musically diverse direction

As always, Sunburn was split over two massive grounds. The difference between 2012’s edition and last year was that the walk between the two grounds was quite a trek. The trek that was made very often, considering the talent was quite equally divided between the two zones, which tired legs not withstanding, was a step in a positive, musically diverse direction. That’s where Sunburn truly scores ”“ the music with fantastic sets by a spectrum of Indian artists. B.R.E.E.D, Jitter, Arjun Vagale, Pearl, Ash Roy, Brute Force, Vipul Angarish and Praveen Achary were highlights of the Indian lineup ”“ audiences flocked to them as much as they did for visiting DJs like Paul van Dyk, Dirty Vegas, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, W&W and Marcelo Vasami. Vasami from Argentina, who’s like a young Hernan Cattaneo, played on the Canvas Stage, which was programmed beautifully, but was tucked away in a far corner of the festival surrounded by the flea market. Perhaps a better stage layout is due next time. Especially when cigarettes and drinks [overpriced as they are] are confiscated, even if purchased at the festival, as one exits one ground for the other, by security that is almost never polite.Â
