The eighth edition of the gig in Kolkata featured crushing sets by Chronic Xorn, Evil Conscience, Dreadhammer and more
Kolkata metal fans came out in numbers for the rare metal gig in the city, organized as part of the long-standing gig series The Pit, which returned after four years. Hosted in memory of the city’s late metal enthusiast Abhishek Bhattacharya at the Triguna Sen Auditorium at Jadavpur University, the show saw around 400 fans turn up to catch scene regulars take the stage.
The lineup included a cross-section of the city’s old and new bands, including headliners such as tech-death metallers Evil Conscience, metallers Chronic Xorn (performing material from their upcoming EP For These Sins Who Must Die) and industrial metallers Noyze Akademi, among others. The real metal spirit was in show when tech-death metallers In Human vocalist took to the stage with vocalist Indranil Dasgupta pumping the crowd up despite being wheelchair-bound. They were joined by thrash metallers Dreadhammer’s vocalist Rishav Bhattacharya for a rousing rendition of Megadeth‘s “Holy Wars.”
