It’s one thing for artists to cautiously wander into booking shows again, but Pune singer-songwriter Piyush Bhisekar goes one step ahead to put together a five-city tour of performances to promote his new single “Sabr” as well as the hugely successful 2018 EP Hai Bharosa

Following shows in Pune and Mumbai on January 27th and 29th respectively, Bhisekar heads out to play a solo acoustic set in Jaipur on February 12th, in Chandigarh on February 13th and at The Piano Man in Gurugram on February 14th. While the Mumbai show in the cozy space of Cat Cafe Studio was sold out, Pune was Bhisekar’s first on-ground gig in nearly a year. “Of course it was a bit scary at first but tackling all the obstacles one at a time helped us remain calm. These two shows were really amazing considering all the new age norms all of the attendees had to follow,” he says.

Performing songs off Hai Bharosa as well as “Sabr,” plus unreleased material from his upcoming EP, Bhisekar says getting back in the midst of a live gig provided an unparalleled energy. “It is my first official tour curated with the help of my manager Pranav [Diwedi] and the only aim of it is to get things started and gather people who listen to my music from the respective city to one place after a year of nothingness.”

With sold out shows in Gurugram and Jaipur so far, the singer-songwriter is keen on visiting “two-tier cities” to extend his tour to add at least nine more cities. Everything from Bengaluru to Hyderabad is on his radar, but Bhisekar also points to cities in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh to reach new listeners. He adds “We are working hard not just to organize shows but an experience for all and brainstorming for it and executing it in these cities has been a learning curve.”
