Pop Artist Kiiara Teams Up with Danish DJ Martin Jensen On New Remix For ‘So Sick’

The track also features American rapper blackbear

From singing on the heady Linkin Park song “Heavy” from the band’s 2017 album One More Light – the last to feature late vocalist Chester Bennington – to grabbing festival slots and selling out a solo tour, American pop artist Kiiara has had a steady rise over the last few years. Earlier this year, the singer released her 13-track full-length debut album lil kiwi, a follow up to 2016’s low kii savage EP. On putting out her latest body of work, she says, “It feels like a weight has been lifted along with expectations. I now feel more free to create and start fresh on something completely new. I feel like I’m no longer in a bubble of restrictions.”

Recently, Kiiara joined forces with Danish DJ Martin Jensen for a dreamy and dancey remix of her track “So Sick” off the latest LP. The vocalist tells us that she’d been a fan of Jensen and would listen to his music while out running. When Kiiara found out that a collaboration with the Dane was on the cards, she was ecstatic. “I was like oh my God, yes, yes, yes!” The remixed track – that also includes American rapper blackbear – is at a quicker tempo than the original song and also contains indulgent production elements. When I heard his remix I had it on repeat for at least an hour,” says Kiiara.

The singer has kept herself busy during the pandemic by working on new material while also perfecting her skincare routine. She says, “One of my goals is to get really good at using eyeshadow.” Kiiara explains that the fresh tunes she’s putting together will be more experimental as she wants to push herself further as an artist. She says, “I’ve been trying a lot of new sounds.” The musician even has a message for her listeners in these tough times by letting them know they are not alone, and not to put too much pressure on themselves. She says, “We’re all human.” Kiiara also hints at possibly touring India once things get better, “I’d love to [tour] when the time is right,” she adds.
