Mumbai/Los Angeles Singer-Composer Nikitaa Breaks Free on New Song ‘Farewell’

The third single this year from the artist is co-produced by Mukund Komanduri and is accompanied by a music video shot in Lonavala

A cheery disposition prevails over pop artist Nikitaa’s latest release “Farewell,” which sees her draw from her own experiences of heartbreak.

The buoyant pop song features acoustic guitar melodies prominently as Nikitaa sings emphatically, addressing her partner about the end of their relationship. Co-produced by Nikitaa’s go-to creator Mukund Komanduri, “Farewell” is her third song out this year, following “Boomerang” with American hip-hop duo Flyana Boss and “Wolf,” the latter released in May.

In a statement released with the song, Nikitaa describes “Farewell” as a song that “articulates the feeling of indecisiveness in a relationship and the strength one needs to put an end to it.” She adds that this song and “Boomerang” both drew from her own life’s events. While the song has a catchiness to it, Nikitaa terms her latest as “extremely vulnerable and tender.”

The accompanying music video – directed by stylist and filmmaker Ria Panjabi with Beej Lakhani helming the role of director of photography – sees Nikitaa and her partner (played by Delton D’Souza) in different states of inertia. As it turns out, “Farewell” was Nikitaa’s first English-language music video to bring in a full crew in four years. She adds, “We shot this video in Lonavala tirelessly for two days from dawn till dusk. The idea of the entire video was to show my ‘partner’ is completely checked out and emotionally unavailable. And the joy that comes from the decision to walkaway – to say ‘Farewell.’ I’m really excited for everyone to see it!”
