"For another artist to acknowledge that is a really, really bitching thing," Posty told Howard Stern in a new interview
Post Malone revealed that Taylor Swift is a big fan of his Beerbongs and Bentleys hit “Better Now” during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Tuesday, Oct. 17.
As Billboard notes, Malone recalled a brief encounter with Swift backstage at a radio show years ago, where she took the chance to praise his work. “We were just passing by and she was like, ‘Oh my God! Nice to see you. ‘Better Now’ is fucking amazing!’”
Understandably, Posty was simultaneously flattered and flabbergasted: “I was like, ‘What? That’s fucking crazy, you’re a great fucking songwriter! Thank you so very much.’” He went on to explain how much the compliment meant to him, especially after feeling like an outcast for so much of his life, at least up until he became one of the biggest stars on the planet.
“There’s so many beautiful artists in the world and for another artist to acknowledge that is a really, really bitching thing,” he said. “It’s a really special thing. That was a really cool moment and it was very inspiring.”
Malone also said that he had the chance to hang out with Swift again recently, calling her “genuinely one of the most kind and considerate [people],” and emphatically added, “a fucking hell of a songwriter. Holy shit, amazing.” Post Malone then quipped that Swift is “fucking destroying it,” as he tries to do “the best I can.”
Back in July, Post Malone released his fifth studio album, Austin. The musician has also linked up with YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Noah Kahan for collaborations, and — as Rolling Stone recently reported — he nearly collaborated on a song with Bob Dylan. Posty has a handful of shows in Australia and New Zealand scheduled for next month, while in 2024 he’ll play a set of country covers at Stagecoach Festival.
