Pop Artist Prateek Gandhi Looks Back at Lost Love on New Song ‘Main Roiyaan’
The track marks the first release on Viacom18 and MTV India’s label and platform KaanPhod and their new series ‘Mic Test’
Singer, composer and producer Prateek Gandhi digs into heartache on “Main Roiyaan,” the first release on Mic Test, a series launched by the platform KaanPhod.
Gandhi is among several seasoned and up-and-coming artists who will put out music via the song-release series Mic Test and KaanPhod. The artist, who has been making music since 2014, says he sent his demo to Viacom18 (who launched KaanPhod) about nine months ago and had them pick it up and even give it a nostalgia-laden music video.
The artist says about his composing process, “I was very particular that I did not want any harsh sound. It should sound subtle, mellow and pleasant to the ears, with an element of trance. Like, you just delve into it, just go into it. You just feel the entire vibe of the sound design to it.”
In addition to Gandhi, several other artists from across the country will release music periodically via Mic Test. The songs will get the music-video treatment and be out on streaming platforms as well.
KaanPhod – launched by Viacom18’s Youth, Music and English entertainment cluster – is the latest entrant in India’s commercial music label space. Not limited to just releasing music, a press release mentions that the division will also put out “unscripted shows, documentaries on renowned music personalities, masterclasses, live jam sessions and international music trends.” The statement adds, “KaanPhod, aims to be the number one destination for artist and music discovery.”
