Premiere: Akhil Sesh’s Fun New Video for ‘Amazing’

The Indian-born American rapper and producer offers a new single that he calls a 'summer anthem'

In his latest release, trap/hip-hop-informed pop artist Akhil Sesh shoots hoops to score with the ladies with “Amazing.” The India-born, Detroit-based rapper released “Prodigy” in July and “Rockstar Rasta” in April, part of his turn to a more “global approach.”

While even “Prodigy” was darker and presented Sesh’s distinct incisive flow, “Amazing” aims for the “summer anthem” sound. “The song itself definitely has a poppy vibe to it which lends its way for a lighter feel,” he says.

Also adding to the intended effect is a somewhat comedic music video shot by Detroit filmmaker djkage. In the clip, Sesh and his friend befriend two women, all while there’s two other men sneaking around them. “DJ Kage came up with the idea of having the subplot of secret agents spying that just added another dimension,” Sesh says.

Sesh mentions that his own comic side is usually reserved for his live stream sessions on Mixer, where he’s usually “playing video games, making beats, and just chatting and joking with whoever pops in.” There’s also an EP in the works towards the end of 2019. “I’m also actively participating in executive A&R roles alongside my ShutEye Ent. team,” Sesh says of his new recordventure with New York hip-hop crew A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli.
