Premiere: Austrian Singer-Songwriter Ro Bergman’s Reflective ‘All We Are’ Music Video

Bergman is readying his upcoming EP ‘New Horizon,’ which is informed by artists such as Bon Iver, The National and more

Out in the city of St. Johann in Pongau, Austria, singer-songwriter Ro Bergman drives his car off a cliff in the soothing, introspective “All We Are.” The music video unravels in slow-motion, which meant that Bergman had to be lip-syncing in “double time” during the shooting.

He says about shooting the video with filmmaker Rupert Höller, “I knew about the concept before we shot the video but while making it I had some interesting and primal experiences, like being lifted up from a Caterpillar 15 times [while] singing the song at 5 o’clock in the morning while the sun was slowly coming up.”

The video perfectly captures Bergman’s style of understated, melancholic pop. The Austrian is considered a platinum selling artist in his country for songs like “Best Time,” which garnered over 60,000 downloads since its release in 2015. Releasing his EP New Horizon on his own label (Bergman Music) on October 25th, the artist says he’s fully aware of the freedom and career growth that can be steered when you’re DIY.

“All We Are” is reminiscent of indie artists such as The National, Bon Iver and even a bit of Chet Faker, much like the rest of the five-track New Horizon. Bergman says he’s received airplay in more than 11 countries and didn’t expect the response he’s got so far. He adds, “I’m already writing new material and have some songs ready. I am planning to release an album in autumn 2020.”
