Premiere: Hear Fyke’s Powerful New Album ‘Disorder’

Los Angeles-based rock band Fyke made a much-awaited comeback today with the release of their second studio album Disorder. Mellower than their debut LP Nightmares [2017], Disorder takes a deep, emotional dive into self-reflection, anxiety, depression, gender norms, body positivity and the hope for a better tomorrow.

“We wrote [this] album to raise mental health awareness,” says lead vocalist Enik Lin. “We’re hoping that by highlighting and talking about these issues through our music, we can begin a much needed dialogue that needs to be had regarding mental health in our society.” The album’s first single “Get Myself” dropped earlier this year in March and is about finding the courage to be true to oneself, featuring K-pop star Amber Liu.

Formed in 2017, Fyke consists of Lin, guitarists Steven Delman and Justin Wright, bassist and vocalist Mikee Fabella and drummer Gerard Christian. The band have previously stated that their sole purpose of existence is to use their music to spread positivity and awareness of current problematic social issues.

Disorder is primarily a blend of dream pop, rock and electronica via smooth synths and thrumming bass. In addition to Liu, the LP features appearances from prominent artists like Korean-American singer James Lee (“The Edge”) as well as Taiwanese-American artist Vaness Wu.
