Premiere: Hriday Is at His Emotive Best in New Video For ‘Saaya’

The track follows the Mumbai-based singer-songwriter’s 2022 EP ‘Jukebox Of History’

A year on since releasing his five-track debut EP Jukebox Of History, Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Hriday is now back with a fresh new sound in the shape of his latest electro-pop track “Saaya.”

The new song opens with the artist’s honeyed vocals before groovy drum and bass parts enter the fray, laying the foundation for sleek production nuances to creep in and out during the track. Midway through “Saaya,” there’s also a smooth breakdown which allows for a tiny but effective bass solo too. What initially started off as just a piano riff has now turned into a synth-pop bop.

Hriday says, “’Saaya’ is a song you can interpret as your own. No matter which point you’re at in life, this piece of music has got your back. It has a lot in it that I kind of have learned and listened to during my life.” He adds, “It’s intense but it’s also upbeat. It has a message yet it’s not preachy. It came to me instinctively and felt like a bit of divine intervention. I had a blast producing this track as well. ‘Saaya’ is my letter of self-love to the world.”

A music video – directed by Aakib Siddique – has also been released to accompany the song. In the clip, Hriday is seen full of emotion performing the track as the visual creatively explores the interplay of light and darkness, highlighting their essential roles in sustaining life. With “Saaya” now out of the way, Hriday doesn’t have any plans of slowing down and is already prepping to release two more singles before the end of 2023.
