The Guwahati electronica duo call on the Shillong singer/actor for a trip-hop offering
Bringing together elements of dark-pop, R&B and trip-hop, Guwahati duo Lateral team up with Shillong-bred singer and actor Andrea Tariang for a cinematic new song called “Misuse My Issues.”
While the artists have regularly crossed paths on festival lineups or gigs, Lateral’s sibling producers Amitabh and Siddharth Barooa helmed mixing duties for songs off Tariang’s debut EP My Time, which released earlier this year. When the brothers began working on “Misuse My Issues” amidst sonic experiments during the first phase of lockdown, they reached out to Tariang to see if she’d be willing to collaborate. Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Amitabh says, “We absolutely love her voice and her singing and really glad we worked on this together.”
Tariang adds in a statement, “Working on this collaboration with Lateral was a new and very exciting experience for me because it took me out of my comfort zone and challenged me to do something I wouldn’t normally do. I am very excited for everyone to hear the song and looking forward to more collaborations with them in the future.”
