Premiere: Mumbai Beatsmith Backclash Taps Into Late-Night Synth-Pop on ‘Tu Aana’
Sung by Anirudh Nimkar, the Hindi pop song is producer Aman Vanjani’s creation alongside co-producer SHMAR aka Pranay Gode
Mumbai-based producer Backclash aka Aman Vanjani teams up with singer-songwriter and friend Anirudh Nimkar for a roving, groovy new Hindi synth-pop song called “Tu Aana,” released via recently launched label and artists partnerships/A&R company Robach Music Group.
Backclash, who is also founder of his own Cali Recordings Studio, has been putting out music for more than five years but “Tu Aana” – co-produced by SHMAR aka Pranay Gode – marks new sonic exploration.
Vanjani says in a statement, “The song randomly came together early this year when I was sitting in the studio and wanted to produce something different. I was really inspired by the whole new pop synth wave style of music and thought of trying my hand at it with SHMAR. Anirudh Nimkar, a friend and a singer-songwriter heard the song and immediately started to flow on it in Hindi, and it sounded really catchy! I was a bit hesitant as I’d never made a Hindi song before but the vocals fit perfectly with the track, and here we are.”
The artist, who recently returned from after studying sound engineering and music production in London, has previously released songs like “Never A Goodbye” and “Can’t You,” plus “I Don’t Wanna Fall In Love.” While all of those amply showcased an undeniable influence of electronic and electronic/pop artists like Kygo and Calvin Harris, “Tu Aana” swerves more towards late-night drive soundtrack territory, just as its lyric video suggests. Unsurprisingly, Vanjani credits travel and nature as “two forces driving his shift in sound.” He adds in his statement, “‘Tu Aana’ is special to me since it’s my first Hindi song but it’s my brand of music, which is equal parts chilled and euphoric. I’m thrilled and anxious simultaneously to move in this new direction.”
