Premiere: Seasoned DJ-Producer Fefunk Unleashes Roving Club Banger ‘Drop It’

Feroz Haamid first established himself as a Bollywood DJ in 2004 and went on to spin EDM and bass house tunes

Club residencies in India and abroad, Bollywood DJ gigs and EDM festivals — Mumbai producer Fefunk aka Feroz Haamid has seen most of it all over the last 16 years. In the middle of it all, he had his sights set on releasing his own music and that’s how he’s kickstarting the new year. “Drop It,” complete with twisted basslines and slamming beats, plus sirens, aims to bring the party home, according to the producer.

Touring across the country as well as performing in Doha, Bangkok and London, Feroz says he had been chipping away at “Drop It” at the back of his mind over a long time. “It is a mixture of funky house and new age future bounce style. This lockdown gave me enough time to get back to this project with a fresh mind, fresh ideas and whole new approach.”

While it’s an all-out club banger for dancefloors, it’s still a while before clubs will open on a wider scale across the world due to the pandemic. Feroz says, “I miss large scale gigs and packed clubs so of course ‘Drop It’ will be a kickstart for any party to each listener’s home.” There’s more original mixes, mashups and remixes coming up to follow “Drop It,” with Feroz finally getting time to concentrate on music outside of being on stage with a console. “These originals are just me exploring myself and finding that small connection with the people,” he says.
