Premiere: Swiss Soul Pop Artist Veronica Fusaro’s Charming Video for ‘Rollercoaster’

Veronica Fusaro’s middle name might as well be ‘hustle’ at this point. The Swiss soul/pop artist has been hopping around the globe for the last two years on the back of releasing two EPs – Lost In Thought (2017) and ICE COLD (2018) – and is now prepping to release her third collection of songs Sunkissed in October.

The Italian-origin singer-songwriter has performed at festivals ranging from Glastonbury and the Great Escape in Brighton, U.K. to Canadian Music Week, as recently as last week. She says over the phone about knocking off over a 100 shows in the span of a year, “To be able to fly around the world, it’s really great. I can play in all these different places – it’s overwhelming sometimes, but in a good way.” Some shows have been in support of rock mainstays such as Mark Knopfler and Eagle-Eye Cherry in France.

Fusaro became known for exploring the darker, wistful hues of soul and electronic-tinged pop with songs like “Better If Go” and “Venom,” but put guitar melodies at the center of it. Unlike most breakout pop artists, Fusaro plans to keep it that way. “The guitar is very important to me. Next to my voice, it is my main instrument and when I play shows by myself, it’s just the guitar, the loop station and I.”

Following the release of her first single off Sunkissed, “Lie to Me,” she’s now released perhaps her cheeriest tune yet called “Rollercoaster.” Produced at London-based Paul O’Duffy’s studio (who’s previously worked on songs by the likes of Amy Winehouse and The Pretenders), the pumped-up love song is accompanied by a video shot in France, featuring two dancers showing off their moves as Fusaro plays the guitar.

The rest of Sunkissed is set to release on October 4th, followed by a run of intimate shows across India, courtesy of Mumbai-based record label 9122 Records. She says about her upcoming India debut, “These people I’m getting messages from on social media… I guess I can call them fans? It’s very cool that there are fans from India and I’m looking forward to be there.”

Fusaro assures that although the rest of the EP is only “sort of” upbeat at times and otherwise predominantly comprising of slow jams and sad songs, “Rollercoaster” won’t be the last of its kind. “It’s quite happy for me, right? I have for sure the intention to write one or the other ‘happy’ song,” she says with a laugh.
