The music fest will be held across four days instead of three in Arunachal Pradesh
In the past, Ziro Festival of Music has featured the best of Indian indie with acts such as Sky Rabbit, Blek and Bombay Bassment from Mumbai and Delhi bands such as Menwhopause, Peter Cat Recording Co, Teddy Boy Kill, Frisky Pints and The Vinyl Records, besides a host of bands from the North East. The last edition was headlined by The Dust, a then new project by alternative rock band Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley. Frontman of The Dust Ronaldo spoke of his experience at Ziro: “Nothing up there was like anything we thought India would be, it was amazing. We’ve played festivals all around the world and there’s not been one like what Ziro was.”
The festival, which is supported by the government of Arunachal Pradesh, also aims to be a celebration of local culture ”“ with folk performances and other cultural activities that foster the work of local artisans.
