Recently, Kerala producer duo Wazim-Murali comprising Wazim Ashraf and Murali Krishnan teamed up with Indo-Canadian playback singer Shashaa Tirupati on a brand-new poppy single titled “Girl In The City,” released via digital music content company Songfest.
It was initially Songfest’s founder Gaurav Dagaonkar, that brought the collaboration together. Tirupati says, “I heard the rough mixdown and felt that I wouldn’t be able to do justice to the track the way the male vocals had, and secondly, knew I couldn’t say no either because I wanted to sing it.” According to the producers, it was a dream collaboration for them. “Working with Shashaa was one of the most amazing experiences we have ever had,” say Ashraf.
“Girl In The City” speaks about a brighter tomorrow that comes across quite well with its acoustic strumming, hopeful melodies and optimistic vocals. “We wanted the track to start off like a casual whisper and build into an almost celebratory and jumpy finale,” says Krishnan.
While Tirupati preps to release her debut EP Sweet Noting(s) and more singles, Wazim-Murali are focusing on finishing up their album Alchemy, which will also include “Girl In The City.” Ashraf says, “The aim is to come out with music videos for all of them.”
