The five-track record houses pop-rock, Celtic and indie soul music
Pune-based multi-genre band Fourth Lane – comprising vocalist Aditi Muley, guitarist Ajay Majethia and drummer/producer Ram – formed in 2018. Muley and Majethia were initially in the same school and connected after the guitarist invited the singer to jam with his then band Half Cooked Rice. That’s where Ram joined the fold too and the trio decided to start their own group. In 2020, Fourth Lane began writing their own music and after releasing a few singles, the band is now out with their five-track debut EP Mood Swings.
While all the members of the band have different musical tastes, the songs they write include various soundscapes from rock to blues, metal, Celtic music and more. Talking about the sound on the EP, Muley says, “We created an experience that allows you to discover your own musical preferences.” The band took about 11 months to complete recording the EP as they had to schedule sessions around their full-time jobs. “The recording process for the EP was smooth since Ram and Ajay are both sound engineers,” says Muley.
Currently, the band is prepping their live set as they plan to gig more regularly. “We will also be focusing on at least doing one tour this year,” says the singer. Fourth Lane also informs us that work on a follow-up EP has already begun.
