Eric Clapton's old songwriting partner Bobby Whitlock and Texan blues rock guitarist Van WIlks will co-headline

The blues hit Bengaluru next month with the Puravankara Indigo And Blues Festival scheduled to take place at the Palace Grounds on May 18 and 19. The third edition of the festival will see Bobby Whitlock (ex-Derek & The Dominoes, Clapton cohort and co-writer of rock staple ‘Layla’) headline along with Texas blues rock guitar legend Van Wilks.
Bobby Whitlock’s influence lies all over classic records like Derek and The Dominos’ Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs and George Harrison’s first solo album All Things Must Pass released in 1970. Whitlock will perform as part of Bobby Whitlock and CoCo Carmel.
Texan blues-rock guitarist Van Wilks is part of the rich tradition of Austin guitar players and has played with icons likes Willie Nelson, Eric Johnson and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons.
Also on the bill are local blues and jazz heroes Blackstratblues, The Saturday Night Blues Band, Overdrive Trio, Adil & Vasundhara, Groove #3 and Chronic Blues Circus.
Here’s a look at what both Whitlock and Wilks have to say about their upcoming India shows. Check them out below:
