Radiohead drummer Philip Selway posted a statement on the band’s website today mourning drum tech Scott Johnson, who was killed in a stage collapse at Downsview Park in Toronto, on Saturday where the band was supposed to play.

“We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague. He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott’s family and all those close to him.”

Johnson, 33, was killed when the top portion of the stage collapsed on top of him during set-up for the concert. The accident happened just an hour before the gates were set to open to the 40,000 ticketholders for the sold-out show, the final date in Radiohead’s North American tour.
