Raghava KK’s Cover As Art For Rolling Stone India
The internationally renowned artist has collaborated with musicians such as Paul Simon and Erykah Badu
Raghava KK
Raghava KK is an internationally renowned artist and entrepreneur. His artwork is multi-disciplinary and encompasses painting, technology, brainwave art, film, and performance. He began his career as a cartoonist, and the cartoonist’s bold line – and dead-on eye for truth – still powers his work. Raghava is a four-time TED speaker and the co-founder of shakeinto, a web-based creativity platform that presents perspectives on everything. Raghava has lectured at several universities and art institutions around the world and has been shown by prominent galleries, museums, and auction houses. His recent music world collaborations include work with musicians Paul Simon and Erykah Badu.
Idea
In this work, I combine the image of the demon (often hung outside doors in Indian homes to ward off the evil eye) with references to Indian music, popular Indian culture, and internet memes to create my Indian tribute to the Rolling Stones’ iconic “lick” symbol and to the idea of impossible India.
