Rain and Jackson Wang Unveil Swanky Music Video For ‘Magnetic’

The music video marks Jackson Wang’s first out of the 30-plus projects the artist plans to release this year

Thursday just got a little steamier, thanks to veteran K-pop icon Rain and Chinese rapper and GOT7 member Jackson Wang’s effortlessly sleek music video for their collaborative single, “Magnetic.”

Written, composed and arranged by Wang with producers BOYTOY and Oneway, “Magnetic” is a song for romantics. The sensual R&B record offers listeners a chance to experience lust, passion and desire with its amorous lyrics, “Baby you can be magnetic/ I can’t refuse it/ No matter how much I resist/ Stuck on you like magnetic, yeah/ Whether there’s friction on our eyes/ Or friction on my trembling heart/ I’m waiting your love, yeah, we get it/ Stuck on you like magnetic, yeah.”

The music video compliments the theme of the track with its snazzy cinematography and wardrobe ensembles. Taking a monochromatic route with Rain and Wang in sharp suits, the black and white music video shows both artists waltzing around an art gallery where time seems to stand still as they sing and break into crisp, clean choreography.

Wang amps up the sensuality of the track by seamlessly switching from his rap into a falsetto, as he sings, “Oh I Like it/ Come in close / Cuz we bout to go switching lanes / Don’t wanna go don’t say goodbye.” Meanwhile, Rain hypnotizes listeners with his sultry vocals against the R&B beats, making “Magnetic” a successful collaboration between artists from two different generations of K-pop.

“Magnetic” which appears on Rain’s four-track EP, Pieces by Rain, also features the tracks “Aurora,” “Why Don’t We” (feat. Korean pop diva Chung Ha) and “Come Over” (feat. Keita, Tag & Won).In a recent interview on DIVE studio’s podcast Get Real, Wang revealed he plans on releasing 30-plus songs this year, out of which fans can expect albums in Chinese and English. The rapper and producer will also revive his solo activities in South Korea; Wang was under JYP Entertainment until January this year and was previously unable to promote his solo projects in the country due to contract obligations–an issue that has since been resolved post his new association with Sublime Artist Agency.
