Rains Wash Out Coorg’s Storm Festival

Originally scheduled for 11-12 November, the festival has now been postponed to 20-21 January, 2012

In an ironic twist, the Storm Festival, billed as India’s first ever camp-out music festival was ravaged by unseasonal torrential rains in over the last week, forcing the festival organisers to postpone the festival by two months to January 2012.

Originally scheduled to happen over this weekend (11-12 November), the Storm Festival was intended as a music festival built around green values and responsible tourism. Set in the beautiful Coorg hills, Storm Festival’s line-up top-flight acts like the Raghu Dixit Project, Indian Ocean, Swarathma, Ankur & The Ghalat Family, Soulmate and more.

Yesterday, the organisers issued a statement on their website, excerpts of which we’ve printed below:

“The unexpected untimely rains during this time of the year have made the festival venue slushy and muddy and some part of the venue has been water logged making it inaccessible for people as well as vehicles….

We, at Storm Festival, wouldn’t want you to have an experience of nature in the current wet scenario. Frankly, it will be a logistical nightmare under these wet conditions. Therefore, keeping the situation in mind, we have decided to postpone the festival to the 20th and 21st of January….

We know that most of you have already made travel plans, and are all geared up for Storm Festival. We deeply and sincerely regret and apologize for the inconvenience caused…

We are working closely with the artiste managers for the event in January 2012…..”
