The Shah Rukh Khan-led actioner has appropriately grandiose soundtrack, featuring the Indo-American artist’s English rap
Raja Kumari is part of the music for Shah Rukh Khan-led actioner 'Jawan.'
Indo-American artist Raja Kumari steps up to deliver grit and grandiosity to the title track off Shah Rukh Khan’s new action flick Jawan, teaming up with composer Anirudh Ravichander.
Raja Kumari invokes all kinds of military references and power-packed emotions for the high-energy electronica-informed track, peppering it with a few refrains of “ra ra ra” and hitting the high notes as Anirudh takes over with the hook. The rapper and songwriter’s vocals and lyrics appear in the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions of the Jawan soundtrack, which has released in full this week. The movie will hit theaters in multiple languages across the world on September 7th.
The artist, who recently released her album The Bridge earlier this year and put out a music video for “Juice,” says she “manifested this moment.” She says in a statement, “It still feels so unreal to me. I have a picture of Shah Rukh Khan on my vision board and I always dreamed of working with him. When Anirudh called me for this song, I knew that day had come. I have goosebumps just thinking about people hearing it in the theatre and all over the world. I am so excited to be a part of this project.”
There are a few more connections that Jawan has to the world of independent music, including acting roles by singer-songwriters like Sanjeeta Bhattacharya and Jhalli aka Aaliyah Qureishi.
