Raman Sharma’s journey in the Indian music scene has been nothing short of meteoric. At 19 years old, his perfect amalgamation of charm, talent, and a rare maturity for someone his age has made him one to watch. His signature blue eyes and great screen presence first drew fans through viral social media reels, but it was his ability to create emotionally expressive songs that truly set him apart.

Raman blew up the scene with “Too Dazed,” embracing an untutored voice that haunts the chaos of the pandemic era, which, effectively, gave him the time to grow into the force that he is today. And yet if there is one thing one can say about Raman, it’s that he never settles.

Constantly looking to evolve, he’s always on the lookout for that next thing. With “Dekho Na,” he’s really bolder in terms of his creative territory. The track was co-produced with Aman Sagar and supported by A&R talents Raghav Meattle and Chintan Chauhan. “Dekho Na” is a clear diversification in Raman’s sound gives us dark and cinematic Hindi pop/R&B. This is a transitional song, it’s one step toward something bigger and reflects Raman’s growth.

Built on themes like perception, trust, and longing the song is written by Raman and Samad Khan, and “Dekho Na” is a heartfelt plea from a person caught between reality and the emotional distance in a relationship. Featuring smooth transitions between Hindi and English, Raman makes it appealing to anyone who has ever tried to convince their partner to trust them completely, in an alluring tone.

But while the song feels intimate, the music video takes those emotions and flips them on their head. What starts as a soft, dreamy escape turns into something entirely unexpected. Set in the outskirts of Alibaug, the video opens like a typical love story. Two lovers, played by Raman and Marathi actor Bhagyashree, are on a picturesque getaway. The visuals are idyllic — shots of golden sunlight, covert glances and romantic moments that seem to be plucked directly from a fairytale. There is, though, something strangely darker, lurking beneath the surface. “Music videos, for me, are opportunities to try something new, to give the song more depth,” Raman says. He did not want a video that played into the song’s surface meaning. He wanted something that made you watch it twice. That is precisely what happens with “Dekho Na.”

But as the video unfolds, what at first seems a simple love story turns ugly. She is not only the female lead but also more menacing. The story unwinds to reveal Bhagyashree’s more criminal intent. A delectably idyllic setting turns into a backdrop for horror as the love story has a nightmarish twist. There’s a juxtaposition in the sugary sweetness of the song melody with a descent into something much darker. “I’ve always been very intrigued by how people perceive me and this video plays upon that interest,” Raman says.

Fans of his earlier work might be in for a surprise with this darker direction, but it is a testament to his constant evolution as an artist. While “Too Dazed” was more firmly planted in reality, “Dekho Na” feels like a leap into fictive storytelling. The emotional tension in the song’s lyrics — the lines “Tum samajhti kyun nahi” — are magnified by the suspenseful twist in the video and makes you feel the desperation in his plea.

In the end, “Dekho Na” isn’t just about love or trust — it’s about perception and the fragility of what we think we know. It’s about the distance between people, both emotional and physical, and how that gap can sometimes hide dark truths. Raman has always been an artist who strives for more than just surface-level music, and with this track, he’s successfully added a new chapter to his evolving sound. The combination of his voice, the R&B undertones, and the unexpected cinematic twist makes “Dekho Na” one of his most memorable releases yet.
