Ravi Shankar, Temptations to Get Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards

Carole King, Lightnin' Hopkins among others to be honored

The Recording Academy has announced the 2013 recipients of its Special Merit Awards, honoring the late sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar and Motown’s Temptations with Lifetime Achievement Awards. Carole King, Patti Page, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Glenn Gould and Charlie Haden will also be recognized with Lifetime Achievement Awards, while Marilyn and Alan Bergman, Leonard and Phil Chess and Alan Livingston will receive the Trustees Award. Ikutaro Kakehashi and Dave Smith, and Royer Labs will receive Technical Grammy Awards.

A special invite-only ceremony for these awards will be held February 9th, with the 55th Grammy Awards following on February 10th live on CBS.
