Workshop and lecture series Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) ”“ which has been providing an insight into the world of cutting-edge music since 1998 ”“ will close on October 31st, Resident Advisor reports.

Red Bull said in a statement to the publication that although Red Bull Music will continue to host events and take forward the global platform, its traveling series and Red Bull Radio ”“ developed by German creative agency Yadastar ”“ will end. The energy drink brand which extensively worked on tours, festivals, content and workshops in India among several other countries, explained in its statement that “it is changing the means of delivery” with regards to providing a platform for the creative arts.

The statement to Resident Advisor added, “Red Bull will be moving away from a strongly centralized approach, will gradually phase out the existing structure and will implement a new setup which empowers existing Red Bull country teams and utilizes local expertise.”

While Red Bull Music Academy hosted its 20th anniversary in Berlin last October ”“ featuring New Delhi-based sound artist Ikagar Saini aka Morpsis ”“ the program has previously been a launch pad for several Indian producers and artists such as Bengaluru-based Oceantied aka Ketan Bahirat, The Sine Painter aka Jayanth Ramachandra and Kolkata-based drummer-producer Jivraj Singh aka Jiver. Globally acclaimed RBMA alumni include producers and artists such as Flying Lotus, Nina Kraviz, Flava D, Dorian Concept and more.

Yadastar’s Torsten Schmidt and Many Ameri posted a statement as well, confirming that “Yadastar and Red Bull have mutually agreed to part ways at the end of October 2019.” RBMA lectures have hosted top artists including Bjork, D’Angelo, Iggy Pop, Questlove, Stephen O’Malley, Asha Puthli and more.
