RED VELVET Release Their Highly Anticipated Japanese Album ‘Bloom’

The releease marks the group's first Japanese full-length album

Published by

Weeks after releasing their seventh Korean EP The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Rhythm, K-pop hitmakers RED VELVET makes a splash with their first Japanese full-length album Bloom. The 11-track LP includes the lead single “WILDSIDE”, whose music video was released six days after their Korean comeback.

“WILDSIDE” comes as a delight for fans who’ve long adored the group’s dark pop roots. Characterized by electronic pop beats, the track spotlights RED VELVET’s vocal prowess with WENDY commencing the track in her warm, sultry vocalization. Singing about embracing one’s wild side, RED VELVET unveils their bold and audacious personas, encouraging listeners to overcome their weaknesses and live their truth; “Inside o-o-out my wild side, my wild side/ The unseen me who has overcome weakness/ Wild side, far away, far away/ Higher and higher to the place unseen/ No one can stop me anymore.”

Conceptually, the group mirrors the boldness in a heist-inspired plotline. Playing the role of skilled robbers, RED VELVET breaks into a high-security facility to loot a red jewel. Clad in abstract attires, the group overcomes all security measures such as lasers and break into vaults with ease, ultimately gaining success in their mission.

Bloom contains four new Japanese-language original songs- “Marionette,” “Jackpot,” “Snap Snap” and “Color of Love.” Similar to their Korean comeback “Feel My Rhythm” (which sampled Sebastian Bach’s “Air On The G String”), “Marionette” samples a classic xylophone line from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.”

RED VELVET’s The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Rhythm marked the group’s highest pre-order to date, crunching in 516,866 album units as of March 20th.
