Retreat to Wayanad This Weekend for Reroute 2020 Festival
Bands like Oorali, Adholokam and Orange Rain will perform, along with workshops on clay modeling, pottery and more
Adventure, entertainment and knowledge come together for the debut edition of a new festival in a rainforest in Wayanad, courtesy of Reroute 2020. Taking place on January 18th and 19th at a natural retreat at Elimbileri Hills in Kerala, Reroute is organized by Bengaluru-based company House of Kreatives, as an “alternative lifestyle, music and arts festival.”
The festival features music from Kerala folk rock band Oorali, Thiruvananthapuram alt rock band Adholokam, Bengaluru-based acoustic act Orange Rain, handpan artist Pramod and more. While the music starts later in the day, there’s also workshops in pottery and clay modeling, plus yoga and art therapy performances and a folk art showcase from the local tribal artists of Wayanad.
The organizers from House of Kreatives say that through Reroute, they want to “encourage and develop a public interest in art.” A press statement adds, “We all are artistic in one way or the other. It’s just that we need to master our initiative and find solace in the deep art.”
Oorali guitarist and founder Saji Kadampattil says he’s looking forward to delivering a performance specific to the setting of a festival like Reroute. He adds, “Oorali has always adapted to the spaces they perform by customizing the show to suit the ambience. Nothing is more exciting than performing in the lap of nature where art can connect to its roots and carve new meanings from sounds. The native percussions and whistles that defines the Oorali sound will blend seamlessly into the valley reconnecting all the souls to their roots.”
A regular ticket for Reroute is currently selling at Rs 3,999. It includes access to both days of the festival, stay, food and transit to and from Wayanad town.
