The single leads the group's fourth EP 'Yellow Punch'
Composed of members Yeonhee, Juri, Suyun, Yunkyeong, Sohee, Dahyun, K-pop girl group Rocket Punch unveils a bright and zestful music video for their latest release “Chiquita.” Foraying the group’s fourth EP Yellow Punch, the record marks the group’s comeback after nine months.
As the fourth series of Rocket Punch’s ‘COLOR COLLECTION’, “Yellow Punch” is inspired from the fact that yellow is the color that is closest to light. The main idea of the album is runway, the place where models walk confidently under the spotlight.
Characterized as an uptempo dance track that is a mix of ’80s disco and euro dance, “Chiquita” is an earworm with an addictive hook as the group sings: “So what? just how I like it/ So shout up, like things now/ So shout up, why so serious? waitin’/ All-day long playin’ I’ll just laugh it off/ (chiquita, chiquita, what?)/Everything as I want it.”
Lyrically, the song communicates Rocket Punch’s confidence and the pride their true identity carries: “Don’t test me, baby/ I’m just being honest every day/ Need you to feed my ego (Let’s go)/ I like it, like it, my way/ I just can’t hide my true self anymore.” Bright, upbeat and visually captivating, “Chiquita” is the perfect track to foray into the spirit of spring releases.
Led by ‘Chiquita,’ Rocket Punch’s fourth EP Yellow Punch contains six tracks from different genres; these the intro track that shares the same title as the EP “In My World,” “Red Balloon, ” “Yesterday, More than Tomorrow” and “Louder.”
