'Trust Fall (Side A)' is the first of two planned EPs for 2015, both coming via new label Island
Incubus have returned with the propulsive new single “Absolution Calling” that will appear on their forthcoming four-track EP, Trust Fall (Side A), set for release on March 24th via new label Island Records.
The CD and vinyl versions of Trust Fall (Side A) are currently available to pre-order on the Incubus website, while the digital version will be up for sale starting February 10th. As Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger told Billboard last year, Trust Fall (Side A) is the first of two planned EPs for 2015, the second potentially coming this summer. Together, the two EPs will comprise a full album.
The band debuted their first bit of new material, “Trust Fall,” during a performance at Los Angeles radio station KROQ’s annual Almost Acoustic Christmas concert. The studio version of that track will see official release on March 10th, after the band returns from a tour of Australia, Japan and Singapore that starts February 19th. Before they take off, however, Incubus will play Jimmy Kimmel Live! on February 12th.
Incubus have remained relatively silent since the 2011 release of If Not Now, When?, their seventh LP, and sixth and final record for the Epic/Immortal label. Last spring, Boyd told Rolling Stone the band was kicking around ideas for new music and relishing the space afforded to them after being on afor 17 years.
“We were lucky as a band in that the record label never lorded too much,” Boyd said. “But there was always this sort of phantom presence. We want to make good art. I don’t think we’d make the music we make if we were lazy. So we don’t need that phantom menace hovering over us at all times.”
