Annual contemporary performance art festival The Park’s New Festival will return for its 11th edition on September 1st. Helmed by The Park hotel group in partnership with Prakriti Foundation, each year the festival holds music, dance and theater performances across several cities in the country; the tour includes stops in Chennai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

The Park’s New Festival will feature solo pieces from actor and comedian Anuradha Menon (aka Lola Kutty), Carnatic vocalist Roopa Mahadevan and contemporary dancer Surjit Nongmeikpam. “For many years, [The Park Hotel group] has been propagating compelling performances of celebrated artists,” said Priya Paul, chairperson of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, in a statement.

For Ranvir Shah, Prakriti Foundation’s founder and curator of The Park’s New Festival, the goal is to provide a platform for more performance artists and perhaps boost the appreciation for the arts amongst Indian audiences. “It has been an enriching journey for us,” Shah stated. “Over the years, this festival has brought skilled performers from all over the world showcasing engaging art forms on a single platform.”

Kicking off in Chennai on September 1st, The Park’s New Festival will have multiple dates in each city on its itinerary, granting each artist their own solo stage and therefore, the audience’s undivided attention. The nearly month-long festival will draw to a close on September 21st.
