After first gaining prominence as a lyricist, Roshanara Qureshi (who goes by her first name as an artist) has released her new song “SLNB” (Sun Le Na Bewafa) as a turn to the dancefloor once again.

Channeling angst in light of being betrayed by a lover, Roshanara has crafted a new pop persona with “SLNB,” which has music produced by Aishwarya Tripathi and comes with a slick, glamorous music video featuring dancers and actor Rohit Lamba.

Hailing from the city of Seoni in Madhya Pradesh, Roshanara previously released “Bewakoofiyan Kare” as composer and lyricist with singer Anil Thakur in 2023. Earlier this year, she wrote lyrics for singer Sona Mohapatra and composer Ram Sampath‘s “Senti Akhiyaan.” According to a press release, she’s so far written songs in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and English, exploring the emotional spectrum.

“SLNB,” then, sees Roshanara in the dance-pop space. A press release adds, “The song explores the protagonist’s struggle with her partner’s disloyalty and heartbreak, ultimately embracing acceptance and freedom from her unmet expectations. With poignant lyrics and a catchy pop melody, ‘SLNB”’promises to strike a chord with anyone who has navigated the difficulties of love.”

The artist says in a statement, “With ‘SLNB,’ I wanted to capture the raw emotions we often feel in toxic relationships. It’s a reminder that even when faced with heartbreak, we have the power to choose self-love and freedom.”

Up next, Roshanara will release her second solo single, “Yaar Beparwaah,” a pop song that the artist says “candidly addresses the carefree nature of a partner who breaks hears without a second thought.” She’s  also currently working on a full-length album slated to release in 2025.
