Catch Mumbai band Zygnema at the Rolling Stone Metal Awards 2012

It’s all happening at the third Rolling Stone Metal Awards. With less than two weeks to go for the Awards we have the final list of performers for what promises to be the loudest evening of the year. Opening proceedings for the night is ambient experimental duo Pangea, who will also make their live debut at the show. Expect guest musicians, loads of synth and tracks from their debut album Snails Are When I Was Young, for which the band was nominated in five out of eight categories in this year’s awards.

Next up are Mumbai supergroup Providence who have a few surprises planned for their gig. “We’re super excited about the gig. We’ve been nominated in seven categories and we get to perform on the same stage. The audience can expect a tap dance from Aaron on one of our songs. He’s practicing hard for it!” said a very enthusiastic Shezan Shaikh about their performance.

It’s been a while since Pune melodic death metal band Abraxas played a show in Mumbai but they’re remedying that by playing a blistering set where they’ll debut as-yet-unheard tracks off their upcoming. “We’re going to be playing most of the songs of our new album. The entire set, if there is enough time, ” said vocalist Karan Pote.

Eccentric Pendulum

Bengaluru prog metallers Eccentric Pendulum, who are nominated in six out of seven categories, will also preview some new material at the show. “We’ll be playing a mixture of songs from our EP The Sculptor of Negative Emotions, the album Winding the Optics and a new song no one has heard before. We haven’t played songs from our EP for a really long time, so it’ll be nice to perform them again,” said drummer Vibhas Venkatram.

Moshpit igniters Zygnema, who also won Best Band and Song (Popular Choice) last year, promise an eventful close to the evening with their mix of much-loved songs from debut album Born of Unity and a couple of brand new songs.  “We have certain surprises planned for the performance; let’s see if they work out.”

The Rolling Stone Metal Awards will be held on July 1st at the Blue Frog in Mumbai.
