Sai Vsr Releases Rustic New Single ‘Mi Amor’

The track is the Hyderabad singer-songwriter’s first in over a year

With two singles out last year, Hyderabad-based singer-songwriter Sai Vsr is now back with a new release in the shape of the acoustic-leaning poignant track “Mi Amor.” Vsr penned the track in April last year after stumbling across an alternate tuning for his guitar. He says, “I was struggling for weeks to write some lyrics to it. One day, I just woke up from a nap, went to the mic, and started playing this, and the words kind of just came into existence.”

According to Vsr, the track revolves around the Spanish phrase “espero que estes bien mi amor” which the singer-songwriter says means, “I hope you’re okay, my love.” The musician was keen on highlighting the stomach-churning feelings one goes through following a lost love. He says, “I wanted to showcase the need to check in on them and see if they’re okay, to let them know you’re feeling broken, or even the fact that you understand that you will eventually be replaced by someone else.”

“Mi Amor” opens with a beautifully plucked acoustic guitar part and Vsr’s lush vocals that set the tone for the rest of the song. As the track builds, keys, strummed guitars and a marching band drum groove enter the fray. The song is filled with plenty of dynamics and climaxes with a big build-up where the drums open and an electric guitar melody is heard as Vsr’s elegant voice closes the track.

The demo vocals the singer-songwriter recorded when he wrote the song also ended up becoming the final vocal parts heard on the record. He says, “They were just that good and we didn’t want to mess with the vibe.” Vsr worked out of his home studio and also called upon producer Pritpal Sudan to help him flesh out the track. Sudan even mixed and mastered the song. Vsr says, “Even though most of the production process was virtual, we ended up getting the exact sound that we wanted.”

The singer-songwriter is currently keeping himself busy pitching to play as many gigs as he can and also plans to expand his sound and work with more producers and musicians. There’s also a couple of songs ready and written that he wants to begin production on. He says, “[I want to] try writing for an artist in the scene that I really like, and eventually try to produce my own stuff too.”
