Seattle Rocker Sami Chohfi Performs ‘Sing You To Me’ with Indian Artists in Kerala
The American rock artist came to Kovalam to perform at International Independent Music Festival (IIMF) with bassist Shalini Mohan and drummer Niveditha Ode Linda in November last year
Seattle-based, Brazil-origin rocker Sami Chohfi continued deepening his India love story with a special performance in November last year, headlining day two of the inaugural edition of International Independent Music Festival (IIMF) in Kovalam, Kerala.
Put together by magazine and platform Lazie Indie and the Kerala Arts & Culture Village, Chohfi was among international and Indian artists performing at the festival, bringing his anthemic, uplifting brand of rock to the stage. To add to the significance, Chohfi enlisted bassist-vocalist Shalini Mohan (from Bengaluru rock band Perfect Strangers, among others) and drummer Niveditha Ode Linda to be a part of his live band for the performance that included songs like “Extraordinary World” and “Sing You To Me.”
Chohfi says about his Kerala gig, “I have played shows in India before in 2020 prior to the pandemic but never of this magnitude. This festival featured music from multiple genres from so many different countries all over the world. The message was simple — unity. I was able to perform on the perfect platform, a massive stage with incredible lighting and a sound system that every God all over India could hear.”
The artist describes working with Mohan and Linda as an honor, calling them “two of India’s most talented female artists.” He adds, “This show was by far one of my finest hours as an Indie artist, and I only hope that I am able to have this experience yet again. I love India, the food, the music and most importantly the people.”
