Hear Seattle Rock Artist Sami Chohfi’s Uplifting New Song ‘The Awakening’
The singer-songwriter vouches for the power of feeling authentic and change on an economic, social and individual level

Brazil-origin, Seattle-based rock artist Sami Chohfi offers comfort and courage for a damaged world and its inhabitants on his latest song “The Awakening.” Driven by Chohfi’s steely, arena-ready vocals, the singer-songwriter is assisted by his bandmates in Blue Helix for the single.
Chohfi digs right into the heart of the matter on the three and a half minute song as he sings, “So I’d like to tell you, that every single thing will be all right/But some things will never be the same.” By the artist’s estimates, it’s the past five years that have been “difficult for us as a society,” referring to global conflict, rising online bullying and the coronavirus pandemic. He adds in a statement, “I feel like we have become so desensitized and hateful towards one another.”
The artist steers perspective towards celebrating “beautiful uniqueness” and encourages people to be less judgmental or driven by comparison. “We try to be someone we are not, and question ourselves for being who we are. People are on their phones with facial filters to change how they look on social media just to feel accepted. Likes and thumbs up have become our new addiction, leading to depression and self-harm. We judge without reason and we assume the worst in each other. This song is about the need for economic, social and individual change. I still believe we can walk hand in hand into a better future once we realize that we are sleeping wide awake.”
Driven by Chohfi’s airy vocal harmonies as well as his conviction-heavy, soulful rock vocals, “The Awakening” is also accompanied by an animated lyric video. To keep the message and reach as global as possible, the subtitles for the lyrics have been translated into Hindi and Portuguese. In 2020, Chohfi released his debut album Extraordinary World, which included songs inspired by his two-year trek around the globe. Songs like “Dirty Your Soul,” which was written in Lisbon, was brought to life with a vibrant video when Chohfi visited Indian cities such as Jaipur, New Delhi and Vrindavan.
