See Hannah Horvath Get Back to Writing in ‘Girls’ Season Six Trailer

"I don't give a shit about anything, yet I simultaneously have opinions about everything," Horvath (Lena Dunham) tells editor

Lena Dunham’s forever flustered protagonist, Hannah Horvath, is the focus of HBO’s full-length trailer for the sixth and final season of Girls. The trailer hints that as the series comes to an end, Hannah will come closer to her ultimate goal of being the voice of her generation ”“ or, in her words ”“ “a voice in a generation.”

The clip focuses primarily on Hannah’s trademark insecurities and rhetorical questioning as she pursues lofty aspirations and a writing career. “I’m mentally ill. I’m overweight. I isolate people,” she says. “Why can’t someone just tell me exactly what to do in a way that makes it seem like it’s my idea?”

The trailer also glimpses romantic and professional plotlines of the other core characters: Shoshanna’s (Zosia Mamet) longing to be a successful businesswoman, Jessa’s (Jemima Kirke) intimate relationship with Adam (Adam Driver) and Marnie’s (Allison Williams) love triangle.

The clip ends with shots of the characters reading her work, narrated by Hannah spelling out her life mission: “I want to write stories that make people feel less alone than I did. I want to make people laugh at the things in life that are painful.”
