See Shia LaBeouf Try Out Interpretive Dance in Sia’s New Video

The quasi-sequel to “Chandelier” finds dancer Maggie Ziegler trapped in a cage with the ‘Transformers’ actor

Jan 08, 2015

Sia originally dropped her Weeknd-featuring “Elastic Heart” as part of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack back in October 2013 ”“ a Mockingjay Part 1 ago ”“ but now Sia is rereleasing the track, minus the Weeknd, as the latest single off her 1000 Forms of Fear LP, one of Rolling Stone‘s 20 Best Pop Albums of 2014. Along with the revamped single comes a new music video, which finds “Chandelier” video star Maggie Ziegler facing off in a steel cage match of sorts against actor Shia LaBeouf.

Ziegler and LaBeouf appear as a dirtied, feral couple entrapped in what looks like the top half of a birdcage in the middle of an industrial studio space. Through interpretative dance, the duo first spar before the 12-year-old dancer discovers a way out of the cage. After making peace, Ziegler’s character attempts to teach LaBeouf a way out of their captivity but he’s frustratingly not able to cross the threshold of the bars.

The “Elastic Heart” video, once again directed by Sia and Daniel Askill, is the visual follow-up to her acclaimed “Chandelier” clip, which similarly featured amazing moves by the young Ziegler. “Chandelier,” one of our 50 Best Songs of 2014, went on to earn four Grammy nominations including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and, naturally, Music Video of the Year. “Chandelier” was also nominiated for Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards but it lost to Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”; it did take home the Moonman for Best Choreography.
